Over the Hill demo not working

I tried to treat "demo will not launch" as a bug and the dates would not let me. The build was taken down on purpose. If a demo entry is still in a Steam library, it has nothing left to start.
The demo was switched off
The Next Fest demo went live on 12 June 2026. The studio extended it to Monday 29 June 2026, 12:00 CEST, and then posted that access had officially closed. A library tile that does nothing is that shutdown, not a corrupted download.
On 6 August 2026 they explained the choice: they wanted the demo to represent the game at its best, and a small team could not keep a demo build and free servers running. That is a product decision. Reinstalling the old demo will not reverse it.
What to do instead
The full game has been on Steam since 14 October 2026. That is the replacement for the demo's opening slice of The Valhallas. Price and the launch discount live on the download pages. There is no official free weekend announced after the demo closed.
Do not download a "demo" from a third-party site. The only demo that existed was a Steam client build, and it is deauthorised.
Questions
Can I still install the Over the Hill demo?
No. Access closed on 29 June 2026. Steam will not hand out that build.
Will the demo come back?
No return has been announced. The full game is the current way to play the same regions.
