Over the Hill progress missing
Checked 17 October 2026. Updated 2026-10-17.
The first time I read a "lost progress" report, I assumed a corrupt file. The developer FAQ says something plainer: in co-op, each person has to reach the checkpoint. I would copy the Saves folder before I touched anything else.

Co-op does not share a checklist
The official FAQ says progress is tracked individually. You can help someone get there, but each player must reach the checkpoint themselves. A host finishing an objective does not write that objective into a guest's save. That looks like lost progress and it is the design.
There is no official post that documents an in-game reset button or extra save slots. I am not going to claim either exists.
Where the files sit
PCGamingWiki lists the Windows path as %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\over the hill\Saves and the Linux path as $HOME/My Games/over the hill/Saves. Steam Cloud is enabled on the store page, so check a cloud-conflict prompt before you overwrite a folder.
Our troubleshooting hypothesis: if Windows Documents is redirected or synced, check whether you are looking at a different folder before assuming the game erased a file. This is not a confirmed game-specific OneDrive bug. Back up the Saves folder before changing files or accepting a cloud overwrite. The studio planned demo-save compatibility on 24 June 2026 but did not guarantee it; no later result is verified here.
Questions
Does the host's progress count for everyone?
No. Each player has to reach the checkpoint. Helping someone get there does not complete it on their save.
Did the demo save transfer?
The plan was yes, and the studio said it could not guarantee it. No launch-week post confirmed the outcome. Treat a missing demo profile as unconfirmed, not as a bug you can patch locally.
